അമ്മയെപ്പറ്റി നാഴികക്ക് നാല്പത് വട്ടം പറയുന്ന ഇവൻ, എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ്, അമ്മയുടെ ഒരു ഫോട്ടോ, ഇതുവരെ ഫ്രെയിം ചെയ്ത് വീട്ടിൽ വെക്കാത്തത് എന്ന് പലപ്പോഴും പെങ്ങൾ ചോദിക്കുമ്പോഴും, ഉടനെ ചെയ്യാം ചേച്ചി എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു ഒഴിയുന്നതല്ലാതെ... അമ്മ ഇന്നും ആ വീട്ടിലുണ്ടെന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കാനാണ് എനിക്കിഷ്ടമെന്നും , ആ ഫോട്ടോ കണ്ടാൽ എനിക്ക് കണ്ണീര് നിയന്ത്രിക്കാൻ ആവില്ല എന്നും ഉടപിറന്നോളോട് പറയാൻ ഇതുവരെ സാധിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. അതിനിടയ്ക്കാണ് ഒരിക്കലും പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാത്ത, എന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലുതെന്ന് ഞാൻ കണക്കാക്കുന്ന ഒരു സമ്മാനം കിട്ടുന്നത്. ചില സമ്മാനങ്ങളുടെ വില ഒരിക്കലും കണക്കാക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുകയില്ല. ഒരുപക്ഷേ കോടാനുകോടി രൂപ എനിക്ക് സമ്മാനമായി കിട്ടിയാൽ പോലും ഇത്രയധികം മനസ്സറിഞ്ഞ് ഞാൻ സന്തോഷിക്കാൻ വഴിയില്ല. ഞാനെന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും സ്നേഹിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ, രൂപം, തടിയിൽ കൊത്തി, ഫ്രെയിം ചെയ്തു, സർപ്രൈസ് ആയി എനിക്ക് നൽകിയപ്പോൾ, ഒന്നും പറയാൻ എനിക്ക് സാധിച്ചില്ല. ഒരു സർപ്രൈസ് ഉണ്ട് എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് ഒരു കവർ നൽകിയപ്പോൾ, അതിൽ മനോഹരമായി ഒളിപ്പിച്ചുവെച്ച, ആ കൊത്തുപണി, എന്റെ കണ്ണിലുടക്കിയതും, എങ്ങുനിന്നോ അണപൊട്ടിയൊഴുകിയത് പോലെ കണ്ണിൽ നിന്ന് നീർച്ചാലുകൾ താഴോട്ട്... കെട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ച് ആ നെറ്റിയിൽ ഒന്ന് ചുംബിക്കാൻ മാത്രമേ സാധിച്ചുള്ളൂ. ഒരു നന്ദി വാക്ക് പോലും പറയാൻ കഴിവില്ലാതെ, തിരിച്ചു നടക്കേണ്ടി വന്നു.
